Minimalist Indoor Pool in a Historic Barn

Located on the Aubrac plateau, in a heritage-protected area, this traditional barn—originally designed to shelter cattle over two levels during the winter—has been entirely transformed to house an indoor pool in a minimalist, serene setting.

Large double-height openings now allow for year-round swimming while overlooking the surrounding landscape.

Heated by a geothermal heat pump, the pool was conceived as an independent structure within the existing stone walls to avoid compromising their integrity. A high-performance ventilation system, fully concealed within the design, ensures air treatment and dehumidification.

The solid oak planks from the original intermediate floor were carefully removed for reuse in the bespoke interior fittings of the adjoining guesthouse.
